“Buy America” is back. With the Great Recession still fresh in their minds, many American consumers are supporting the U.S. economy by asking for and purchasing products “Made in America.”
In a July 2012 survey by the Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM), 97 percent of consumers had a favorable view of goods manufactured in the U.S. In addition, 89 percent said they favor a national strategy to support manufacturing in the U.S.
Pella Windows and Doors — a family-owned, privately-held company that’s been in business since 1925 — is proud to say its windows and doors are “Made in America.”*
“We proudly create high-quality, innovative, energy-efficient windows and doors right here in the U.S. for homes and businesses,” said Kathy Krafka Harkema, senior public relations manager at Pella.
Pella manufacturs wood windows and doors in Pella, Carroll, Shenandoah, and Sioux Center, Iowa; and Macomb, Ill. Fiberglass and vinyl products are manufactured in Murray, Ky. Vinyl windows and patio doors are also manufactured in Gettysburg, Pa.; and Portland, Ore. Wood entry door systems are produced in Wylie, Texas. EFCO, a Pella Company, creates commercial products in Monett, Mo.
“Pella provides a wide range of innovative wood, fiberglass and vinyl windows and doors to meet the energy performance, style and design needs of Americans as well as customers across North America and overseas,” Krafka Harkema said.
Pella provides careers for about 6,000 team members across the country. Our headquarters is in Pella, Iowa, a central Iowa community of about 10,000. Just one U.S. manufacturing job supports five other U.S. jobs, according to americanmanufacturing.org.
Locate U.S. Products
ABC World News has taken up the “Made in America” cause — publishing an ongoing series featuring U.S. companies and their homegrown products. ABC World News created an interactive “Made in America” map to help consumers locate U.S.-made products. Pella Windows and Doors is one of 17 companies listed in the state of Iowa.
The patriotic trend sparked a TV show on the Travel Channel called “Made in America” that travels the country showing how some of the most iconic U.S. products are made.
